The purpose of literary criticism

The purpose of literary criticism?

Is DEFINITELY NOT to make people realise the truth around us but to make the lives of ENG4U students miserable.

Hey come on, if it could snap people out of what they are doing now, it could have succeeded hundreds of years ago way way back when there were poets and critcs slamming around.

Now tell me what's the purpose of literary criticism again?

I really have not an idea of what to write about "betting on the muse" by Charles Bukowski. Poems are meant to be a mystery and there's no use analysing it since mystery is its sole purpose? There is never a right or wrong answer for a poem anyway. It all depends on how the individual look at it. Aduh...
